It was a great Thanksgiving Day in Turners Falls, unless you were from Turners Falls. The Green Wave slid past Turners Indians 12-8 in a very snowy game. For those of us who live even a little bit south of Hartford, the photos of this traditional rivalry were astonishing. Slammed by an Alberta Clipper so there can be no remaining doubts, winter has come to Franklin County.
Weather has never been a reason to cancel the challenge and this year the Powertown gang was loaded for a win.  At half-time the Indians may have been feeling pretty good as they had an 8-0 lead over the Green Wave. Our alma mater had posted only a 1-9 record for the season, so they should have been easy pickings in this 79th Thanksgiving meeting of the two teams. But it was not to be for Turners. To add insult to injury, the one win that Greenfield previously had all season came against Springfield Central High which had beaten GHS 42-0 but had to forfeit the game.
Our team picked up two touchdowns, with the second coming in the final 30 seconds of the game to deliver a win.
